Biography
The central, most important thing that defines Peter is his faith in Jesus Christ. Everything he does, or works hard to do, is driven by his trust in Him. Out of such faith, Peter believes that loving Jesus and loving others is all that matters. It's from this perspective that Peter pursues music so passionately, with attention to detail, performance, and production.
Peter Councell, born and raised mostly in the mountains of western North Carolina, first began his official career behind the drum set at the age of fourteen with an Asheville-based Beatles tribute band known as Yesterday's Tomorrow. Since that time, his development behind the kit has been exponential. Peter currently has twelve-years experience behind the drum set. He studied under the direction of such professional drummers as Sammy Wolfe, Paul Babelay, John Harwood, and Jeff Sipe. Peter also received a B.A. in Music Business and a concentration in Piano Performance from Montreat College in 2009. He has worked with such artists as Zach Blew, Kellin Watson, NELKEN, Undone, Morning Breath, Darien Crossley, Anna Rose Beck, and Worldline. He has performed alongside such artists/bands as Birdie Busch, Daniel Ellsworth, and Horse In The Sea. Not only has his experience behind the drum set improved his musicality and musicianship, but also his experience as a pianist (thirteen-years experience), composer, arranger, recording engineer, and producer have proven to keep his playing in high demand. Currently, Peter plays in Christian alternative rock band, The Weller Band, and his jazz fusion project, Mr. PC. He also currently serves as the instructor of Applied Percussion at Montreat College, as Worship Leader & Music Director at Isight Church, and as IT Admin and Director of Social Media for Oodles World, LLC.
